350Z Escort SR7 Radar Install

Escort SR7 Dissection

The SR7's Head Unit is barely noticable!
The whole install took me one evening.

You must remove the center console in order to do this.
The Mute Button install will be obvious.

For the Head Unit install:

Locate gap in corner of Defrost Vent
Cut RJ11 tip off of wire
Run wire through gap
Work wire in to hollow area right of console
Recrimp new RJ11 tip on to wire
Secure Head Unit with Velcro

Remove ALL tape from "Boot"
(You can always replace it later)
Punch hole in Boot with nail starter
Be careful to not puncture wires!
Grease wire and Boot
(I used SCUBA silicone grease)
Cut RJ11 tip off of wire
Guide wire in and down the bend
Recrimp new RJ11 tip on to wire

These things fit PERFECTLY!

All hardware is included
The manual specifies the bit size

Remove spare tire
From inside, locate rubber gasket in area behind license plate
Remove rubber gasket
Cut RJ11 tip off of wire
From under car, notice gap between license plate and rubber gasket
Run wire as pictured to gap between license plate and rubber gasket
From under car, work wire towards and through rubber gasket
Run wire to Main Wiring Harness
Recrimp new RJ11 tip on to wire

The detector faces up a little bit.
Bend the bracket slightly to level it out.

Neon lights and some headlights sometimes set it off.
